“The willingness to accept responsibility for one’s own life is the source from which self-respect springs.”
Though this quote isn’t from the book, I’m currently reading “Slouching Towards Bethlehem”, a collection of essays from Joan Didion. Before that, I watched the documentary, “Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold”. It’s on Netflix, and I highly suggest that anyone who enjoys writing watches it. Immediately after watching the documentary, I bought this book. I have a hard time reading non-fiction, but Didion’s journalistic writing somehow sounds like a beautifully written, fictional novel. I’m looking forward to reading more of her works.
